The Five Y-E-S-ses we do every year

Thursday, December 9, 2010

Every year we see Y-E-S in the papers, at the malls and a lot of places.. Year end frenzy I call it. But there are more than just that Year end SALE that we have each year..Let's count the five that I have in mind.

1. Y-E-S ~ Year End Scram
Most families and individuals will use the year end school holidays to go holidaying.. Off they go to Bali, Bandung, UK (United Kingdom/Ulu Kelang), the many islands we have in Malaysia (in the rainy season at that) Paris, Hong Kong... okay, you get the picture. People are going off to holidays all around the country and all around the world. This is particularly true for Malaysians as parents tend to have to schedule their leave around the academic calender. The tourism industry just booms every year end..

2. Y-E-S ~ Year End Score
Whether you agree or not, most of us do a lot of soul searching just shy of 31st December.. I wonder why... That last week of December, beginning after Christmas up to New Years eve, the most popular question you will hear and see on any social network OR social circle is What's your New Year Resolution for next year? That would actually make you start to think of THIS YEAR"S resolution and the many unchecked boxes you have on THAT list and will start you on a whole new list of the MANY things You want to do but may not DO anyway next year.. Every year, we ALL do that..don't we?

3. Y-E-S ~ Year End Scrimping
This would be a scenario for parents with children who are already in school or going to school.. Usually involving a family with multiple children going to school at the same time.. As the year comes to a close, all we can think about is $$$$ and how much we need to SPEND for our kids schooling gears(which most probably would only last till mid of 2011 before they need new ones OR SO they think!) and the books they need to have (and may not use throughout the year). Plus the need to pay for School fees, TASKA fees and so many registration fees.. Year End also bring a New Year of all sorts of FEES..

4. Y-E-S ~ Year End Scramble/ Stress
This involves the many resolutions that people put out for themselves from the beginning of the year. They usually have a way LONG list of things that they MUST do or achieve by December. January steps in and SUDDENLY they find themselves in December with a third (if you are so lucky) of that resolution list fulfilled. And as December comes into its second week, people are starting to sweat seeing that they have so many unfinished "business-es" before 2011 shows up. Thus the Scramble, thus the stress..

5. Y-E-S ~ Year End Suckers
Somehow people think that when the date changes from 2010 to 2011, the planet we stand on shifts and disappears only to be replaced by another planet with a new landscape, with new buildings plus new friends and neighbors.. It's a new year therefore a new start. The funny thing is when the clock strikes 12 midnight on the 1st of January 2011, we are still standing on the SAME SPOT as we did a minute ago in year 2010. Our friends and families are still the same. Our house is still on the same road, looks pretty much the same as the year before.. So besides a change in date and time, the rest is ironically the same. Our debts are still there and have not disappeared..somehow. AND there are people out there who think that if they do something absolutely idiotic this year, next year that stupidity will not follow them back home..

So truth is a New Year is just another way of saying
"Hey! Move forward idiot! Time is not gonna stand around for you. Whether you like it or not, the rest of the world is continually in motion.."

Malaysian hacked into US Fed: prosecutors - Yahoo! Malaysia News

Well, I just have to say a few things about this.

1. He is SMART enough to hack into one of the highest security (Federal Reserve tu) networks in the world ( or so believed )

2. He is SMART enough to probably had tried it in different countries before he did US...maybe?

3. He is SMART enough to have PROBABLY stolen millions of credit card numbers from MALAYSIAN banks already?

but the BEST of all

4. He is not THAT smart cause in the end, he did get CAUGHT..

It does make you wonder, doesn't it?

Who will cry for the little boy? by Antwone Fisher

Saturday, November 20, 2010

I watched the movie "Antwone Fisher" twice actually. The first time I missed a few parts including a part where he initially read this poem. Watching it a second time and in full really put me in tears..especially when he read the poem out loud.. I've a soft heart, I couldn't help it. Anyway, the poem was written by the man himself, Antwone Fisher. In a way it tells of his pain as he was growing up and trying to understand all the why's in his entire young life.. It's sad. Real sad. The story is partly based on his own experience I suppose.

Who will cry for the Little Boy?

excerpt from the movie - courtesy of Youtube

Who will cry for the little boy? Lost and all alone
Who will cry for the little boy? Abandoned without his own
Who will cry for the little boy? He cried himself to sleep
Who will cry for the little boy? He never had for keeps

Who will cry for the little boy? Who walked the burning sand
Who will cry for the little boy? The boy inside the man
Who will cry for the little boy? Who knows well hurt and pain
Who will cry for the little boy? Who died and died again

Who will cry for the little boy? A good boy he tried to be
Who will cry for the little boy? Who cries inside of me

ps: a literature worth discussing..

Real Housewives of...

Friday, November 19, 2010

Pernah dengar tak realiti tv pasal surirumah2 kat Amerika tu? Pernah tengok tak? The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Kat Malaysia ni so far diorang cuma tunjuk the one from New Jersey kat Diva Universal Channel, Astro. Rupanya ada banyak lagi franchise cerita ni kat merata tempat in Amerika..

This is my version of what a real housewife's (with kiddies and toddies and babies in tow) life would be like....

6.00 am -
Tersedar dari tidur. Baby nangis nak susu. Bangun dan terus menuju ke dapur. Masak air, buat susu, head back to bilik tidur. Bagi susu kat baby. Solat dan turun balik ke dapur.

7.00 am -
siapkan breakfast or minum pagi. Kemas rumah, sapu rumah, basuh baju dan kalau sempat mop. Elok habis je kerja, anak2 bangun one by one. Siapkan anak2 pulak - mandi, makan.

9.00 -
Baju dah siap dalam washing machine. Sidai baju lak. Anak mula main and gaduh2 pulak. Cuba leraikan. Baju still tak siap jemur - tergendala.

10.00 -
Baby nangis. Opps, kena tukar lampin. Anak yang no 3 nak minum air lak, buat air. Abg ngan kakak dia pun nak air. Sorang nak air oren, sorang nak milo. Baby nak susu, tiba masa nak tidur.

11.00 -
tidurkan baby lak.. kena baring sekali dengan dia. Kalau tak tak nak tidur. Ambil peluang relakskan badan. Baby tak leh nak tidur sebab abg dan kakak2 dia buat bising dan main dekat area baby nak tidur. Marah and tukar lokasi, cuba tidurkan baby lagi. Finally, dia tidur, time untuk masak lunch pulak.

12.00 -
Masak menu hari tu. Masak nasi. Tengah siang ikan/ ayam, dengar baby nangis. Baby terkejut. Tutup api dapur, gi redakan baby menangis. Sambung masak. Anak dah keluar masuk dapur komplen lapar.

1.00 -
Bagi anak2 makan. Sambil tu makan jugak sekali. Habis makan, basuh pinggan dan kemas dapur lepas masak tadi. Solat dan paksa anak2 rehat. Masa ni dah around pukul 2.30ptg, baby pun dah ngantuk balik. Anak2 tidur, Angkat baju.

3.30 -
kids aktif balik. Rumah bersepah balik dan anak2 lapar balik. Masak tea. Kemas permainan dan rumah balik. Lepas makan tea, kemas dapur balik.

5.00 -
anak2 nak ke taman permainan. Ikut ke taman. Bawak semua ke taman. Tunggu kids main kat taman. Kena paksa main sekali.

6.30 -
Balik, mandikan anak2. Masak dinner. Kemas dapur.
Husband balik. Rumah kena bersih.

7.30 -
Makan malam. Kemas pinggan mangkuk. Ada baju lum lipat lagi - buat esok. Gosok baju - pun esoknya.

9.00 -
Ajak anak2 tidur. Tidurkan baby. Tidur jugak sebab dah letih..

Mungkin faktor umur anak tu memainkan peranan jugak la. Tapi kalau dah sehari dok kemas jer, nak keluar pun dah tak larat. Betul tak?

What a week..

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Alhamdulillah, hujung minggu dah tiba. Now ni kena la build up momentum lagi.

It is certainly not easy. It involves a lot of sacrifice and patience and commitment. Memang letih. No time for yourself kecuali waktu tengah malam bila semuanya dah tidur, atau waktu pagi sebelum semuanya bangun semula.

Anyway, minggu depan dah mula cuti sekolah.

1. mulesGo to fullsize imageGo to fullsize image

2. pumpsGo to fullsize imageGo to fullsize image
pumps ni sebenarnya is another way nak sebut kasut.

3. flats Go to fullsize imageView Image

4. heels
Go to fullsize imageGo to fullsize imageGo to fullsize imageGo to fullsize image
I love these types of shoes. Kat rumah memang ada more than sepasang. Walaupun jarang pakai sebab waktu kerja, keadaan pekerjaan tu memang tak berapa menggalakkan sangat sebab lepas tu memang akan sakit kaki-betis dan yang sewaktu dengannya. Heels ni boleh jadi high heels (2 - 3 inch heels) atau stiletto heels ( more than 4 inches) Paling tinggi rasanya yang Lady Gaga pakai dalam video Bad Romance dia tu. Nak jalan pun seksa banget tu..Oh ya, kasut macam ni juga dikenali as evening shoes..

5. wedges
Go to fullsize imageGo to fullsize imageGo to fullsize image
Ni one of my favourite types of shoes. Looks good and also comfy.

6. sandals
Go to fullsize imageGo to fullsize imageGo to fullsize image
Sandals ni flat women shoes. Selesa dan comfy dan menjadi pilihan kebanyakan wanita untuk pergi bersiar atau keluar dengan aman tanpa rasa sakit at the end of the day.

7. slippersGo to fullsize image Go to fullsize image
flip-flops / thongs sandalsGo to fullsize imageGo to fullsize image
Okay yang dua ni I letak sekali sebab senang nak buat perbandingan. Slippers look more ladylike and fashionable.

8. bootsThis Week It All Shearling BootiesGo to fullsize image
Sorry to say la the higher the boots the cheaper you look sebab biasanya akan di pakai dengan baju yang mini dan micro..

9. moccasinsGo to fullsize imageGo to fullsize image
But comfy to wear on an outing tapi rasanya tak berapa sesuai untuk berjalan jauh.

10. platform
Go to fullsize imageGo to fullsize imageView ImageGo to fullsize image
My last platform shoes walaupun tak setinggi yang dalam gambar was my favourite pair sampai dia putus. Memang best.

Contohnya sneakers. Tapi tu kira kategori masculine sikit jadi I tak masukkan. So hope semua ada belajar perkara baru dalam entri I yang ni. Including me. Mungkin description dia tak berapa tetap atau tak kena.. tapi bak kata orang A picture is worth a thousand words. So boleh la compare gambar dan tengok sendiri. Thank you.

Macammana boleh jadi camni?

Sunday, November 7, 2010

http://www.emocutez.com
Yang jadi tandatanya untuk myself is

1. Macammana jualan tiket perlawanan bolasepak malam tu sampai boleh melebihi muatan stadium?

http://www.emocutez.com

I bercakap dari apa yang I nampak disebelah penyokong Kelantan.

Takde safety conscious betulla. Dah la tak reti jaga kebersihan lepas tu main2 mercun dalam ruang tertutup. Kalau kena orang macammana? Kalau terbakar stadium tu macammana?

http://www.emocutez.com

Reality Crazy

Sekarang ni banyak betul cerita realiti yang orang putih produce. Realiti tv shows ni umumnya ada 2 jenis. Satu kategori pertandingan. Ni termasuklah Survivor, The Apprentice, The Amazing Race, American Idol, America's Next Top model, America's Got Talent, The Bachelor, The Biggest Loser, So you Think You can Dance, The Contender dan sangat2 banyak lagi.

Kategori yang kedua adalah diary/blog like reality tv shows. Contoh adalah The Kardashians, Giuliana and Bill, The Osbournes, Paris Hilton, Jersey Shore, Real Housewives of New Jersey(salah satu tempat yang dibuat cerita ni. Ada beberapa tempat lain), Kimora Life in the Fab Lane, American Chopper dan lagi sekali, banyak lagi dalam senarai ni. Ada yang kita tak pernah tengok. Ada yang kita pernah dengar tapi I found a site listing all the reality shows yang ada, pheewww, what a loonnngggg list.

Kat Malaysia pun dah mula ada kegilaan realiti tv ni. Kebanyakannya realiti tv berkaitan dengan pertandingan. So far tak pernah tengok lagi realiti tv bersiri tentang kehidupan kecuali yang meliputi persediaan kahwin Mawi/ Ekin dan our own astronaut, Syeikh Muszafar and spouse.

Alcohol more harmful than heroin, crack cocaine

Alcohol more harmful than heroin, crack cocaine: study - Yahoo! Malaysia News

And Allah is Just and Merciful. It has been written thousands of years ago that it is forbidden in the Quran. Now this study just enforces what all muslims around the world have known and was taught from the beginning.

What else can we say but "I told you so..."

5 Kemudahan Perlu Ada Zaman ni

Ni senarai pendek 5 kemudahan yang zaman dulu takde tapi zaman sekarang orang tak boleh hidup tanpanya..kebanyakan orang la. I tak kata semua.

1. Telefon Bimbit.

Do you have that inner beauty?

Thursday, November 4, 2010

This is an article i received in my email. Just thought I'd share it with everyone else.

Inner beauty is most important! No matter what, physical beauty will eventually fade.

When you try to enhance your inner beauty, the self confidence and the true faith you gain will really help you to make an irresistible personality who just cannot be ignored. Apart from the right diet, exercise, skin care, hair care, etc. it is also very important that you cultivate the right kind of thoughts in your mind.
1. Smile : Making the effort to smile every once in a while will make you feel good about yourself, and make others feel positive. Learn to smile with your eyes. The eyes are the window into one's soul, so if you smile with your eyes, people will immediately be drawn to you.
2. Do not be envious of others for their name, fame, looks, abilities, financial status or any other reason. Also, do not speak negatively about other people. In this way, you will be able to be satisfied with yourself and that will get radiated from your personality, and you will find a glow from within.
3. Do Not Criticize Yourself: We all have an inner critic lying within ourselves who tend to make us look down upon ourselves. It often creates doubt in our mind about our appearance, confidence, talents and so on. However, it is an important job on your part to discourage such thoughts. Thus, you can prevent yourself from being your own enemy.
4. Accept Your Flaws: Do not think too much about those aspects of your looks that you do not like. If you, yourself can accept them, then you will observe that others will not be bothered and accept them too. Keep your focus on the things that you like doing and move ahead in life.
5. Be Yourself : Don't try to look or be like someone else, because that is just a waste of the beautiful person you are. Individuality is beautiful! You should focus more in improving your overall personality, how you carry yourself and how you portray yourself in front of people. You also need to be self motivated to take proper care of yourself. If you feel beautiful from within, it is bound to get reflected on your looks.
6. Develop a positive attitude on everything there is about you – from the way you think, to how you talk and of course how you look. You will look much more beautiful if human kindness, courage, concern, self esteem and humor are twinkling from your eyes. People will recognize that there is something about you that makes you irresistible – and that is when you feel great about yourself, no matter what others think or say.
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his or her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you'll never walk alone.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart. The place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows.
And the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows.
You can start being beautiful – now

JazakAllaah Khair.

2011 azam baru dah?

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Cepatnya masa berlalu. Bak kata orang putih, it's like a blink of an eye. Tau2 dah masuk November of 2010. Rasanya takde sape pun yang pikir lagi pasal azam baru 2011 diorang. http://www.emocutez.com

Semua tengah nak cuba mencapai target azam 2010 diorang lagi. Masih ada masa. Baru masuk bulan November 2010. Agak2 nya banyak tak tercapai target yang dibuat awal tahun ni?

For myself rasanya adalah baru 20%..ni main agak2 je ni. Nak sedapkan hati. So far tahun 2010 ni ada ups and definitely ada downs dia. Emotional roller coaster, Financial chaos, semua ada. http://www.emocutez.com

But out of the bad ni, ada yang baiknya. My kids exam results ada improvement a bit. More settled than before. InsyaAllah, the future holds no barriers and insyaAllah, rezeki itu ada untuk anak2.

So for me, my soul searching for the new resolution of 2011 begins now. http://www.emocutez.comI probably need to rethink, re-strategize and reorganize a lot of myself for the better.

Yang pasti I have 1 bulan lebih nak pikirkan tentang yang dah berlaku tahun ni, take stock of it and susunatur semula my Gantt chart utk tahun depan. Yang pasti bila ada azamnya nanti, I am sure to post it.

AirAsia to fly to NZ pulak

AirAsia lines up New Zealand runway - Yahoo! Malaysia News
The land of the Hobbits and Ogres and the elves..here we come!! Bestnya ada AirAsia flight to NZ. I lakk yang excited. Macam leh pegi anytime soon. At least I know I nak try and make it there. It will be on my next years wishlist, amongst other things..It will be way down on that list by the way tapi still on that list. Bila lagi nak gi tengok tempat Hakka originated from. I learned to love rugby ( not a wonder when you have to haul our family to watch the game every weekend for many2 years), learned to appreciate it like any other sports, and of coz the teams playing (individually la). Anyway, all i can say is Yeehaaa!!!

English word fun Part 1

Do you realise that some English words when spelled backwards will give the word a different meaning. These words are in a category known as part palindromes or better known as semordnilap (try spelling palindromes backwards?).

Contoh nya:

1. Live - eviL

2. Pets - steP

3. Lived - deviL

4. Stressed - dessertS

5. Saw - waS

6. Rewarder - redraweR

7. Gateman - nametaG

8. Reviled - deliveR

9. Diaper - repaiD

10. Pots - stoP

I have listed just ten of those words. I wonder if anyone can add more words to my list above.

!Step on no petS!

Customers are always right

Monday, November 1, 2010

Last Friday night we went out for dinner and thought of trying the new Ani Sup Utara Restaurant near our residence. Not surprising that it was full to the brim. Everyone wanted to try out the new eatery on the block. And seeing that it was opened on a Friday, so everyone felt like dining out.

Well, we did manage to find a table and we sat amidst the bustle in the diner. We waited, and we waited, and we waited some more. The waiter saw us, the cashier saw us. There we were, sitting there, looking at them looking at us. I tried a few times to catch the eyes of the waiter who walked by a few times or walked near our table once or twice. I thought my voice was loud enough, but perhaps not enough to grab their attention.

What truly pissed us off was the fact that another family came in and sat 10 - 15 minutes after we did and was served immediately. That truly ticked my husband over board. so we just walked out. They lost a potential customer, we did not lose anything.

We went to a mamak restaurant next door, which we also went during their opening day and got served immediately from the first visit until now. In fact that night when we went in, the waiter was already beside our table even before we were done parking our butts down.

So my thoughts are ' When you are going to be in the customer serving industry, please

1. make sure you acknowledge ALL customers when they walk in.

2. make sure you get someone to greet and serve your customer as soon as possible. Never let your customer fume over your menu.

3. make sure that even when you are having a full house, just quickly inform your customer that you will be with them as soon as possible. Good manners always leave a lasting impression.

4. make sure that on your Opening day, you are NOT short-handed in terms of staff and management, AND that your food supply is more than enough for your customers.

5. make sure that your customers leave your shop happy and satisfied, if not ecstatic and extremely glad they made a stop at your premises.

Good food AND good service will not only bring return customers, but will also get NEW customers from great reviews from your returning customers even if our customers have to pay a bit more than usual.

So please if you are planning to open up an eatery, be sure your customers won't leave your diner before they order. Bad, bad review. Even if I now have a craving for the food, I don't know when I will walk back in to the restaurant. Certainly not any time soon.

Satu perkataan banyak makna in English.

(pronounced differently from the above examples. meaning: introduced, exhibit, display)

Well, I think that should be enough examples for today. Just wanted to show how vast the English language is and sometimes when you don't have enough grasp of the language you can definitely get lost and drown in it.

Too many is sometimes too much.

We'll have another round next time.

ps- the most difficult language to learn is said to be Arabic and French, in that order. So English is just a piece of cake in comparison, right?

pss- next time maybe I'll try to compile the ones that has the most meanings..

Rusa Lawan Kijang 2010 Part 1.

Sorry, I bukan cakap pasal zoo tapi mention tentang pertandingan "face to face" Rusa dengan Kijang pukul 9 malam tadi kat Stadium Bukit Jalil. Hebat and glad to say, I was there from start to finish.

Hubby and me sampai kat area Bukit Jalil dalam pukul 8 malam. Memang kepadatan kenderaan dah melampau la masa tu. We could spot a police traffic every 10 metres. Itu pun orang main parking sukahati mak bapak dia, including incik hubby. Jauh woo! I tak larat so we naik lrt pi Bukit Jalil.

Anyway, sampai area Stadium we dah boleh dengar bunyi riuh rendah dalam stadium. Dah tau dah memang akan full. So dalam 8.30 gitu kitorang pun masuk dalam and we had the shock of our lives. Dah takde tempat duduk kosong lagi!!..on the Kijang side. Cari la kat pelusuk mana pun memang dah takde tempat duduk. So incik hubby kata takpe, we jalan2 ronda dulu. Lots of FRU and polis plus sekuriti inside, meronda jugak.
So just when the game nak start we actually found a niche yang boleh dikatakan OK la sebab can see separuh padang..sigh, dalam hati me "Not worth paying for this kind of seats" In fact, they were not actually seats pun. Kalau tengok sekeliling stadium, dua pertiga memang baju merah jer. Kuning sepertiga lagi. In terms of attendance Kijang memang menang dah.

bersambung Part 2

Rusa Lawan Kijang 2010 Part 2

Part 1

Sebab apa I kata gitu?

Incik Hubby pun puashati walaupun we had to sit kat tempat yang tak berapa sesuai. Alhamdulillah.
